TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 1400A 3-14-96 = Bravo MS/L/T P75/P100/P133 Adding A Joystick Port PROBLEM When adding a joystick card, or a multi-I/O card with a joystick port to the Bravo MS/L/T P75/P100/P133, the system may report a conflict stating that the system already has a joystick. CAUSE The 202762-XXX main logic board in the system uses an integrated Crystal Audio Chipset. The Crystal chipset includes joystick support, but the external port circuitry is not present on the main logic board. This joystick port is active by default in the DOS and Windows 3.1 environments. The joystick port is seen by Windows 95 because it is a Plug-n-Play Operating System. SOLUTION For the DOS/Windows 3.x environment, follow the steps below : 1. Boot the system to a DOS prompt. Be sure that the DWCFGMC.SYS driver is loaded. The driver is included in the default CONFIG.SYS that ships with the system. 2. Load the mouse driver. On a default factory system, this should be : C:\MOUSE\MOUSE.COM 3. Change the directory to C:\PLUGPLAY\ICU 4. Run ICU.EXE. You will see the CS4232 listed. This is the Crystal Sound chip. 5. Highlight the CS4232 by clicking on it with the mouse pointer. 6. Choose the 'Modify' button. A list of Crystal Audio features will be displayed on the screen. 7. Highlight 'Game' by clicking on it with the mouse pointer. 8. Choose the 'Settings' button. A window with the game port settings will appear on the screen. 9. From the 'Configuration Choice' box, click on the drop arrow on the right and choose 'CHOICE2' from the list. 10. Click OK and follow the prompts back to the main screen. 11. Click on 'File' from the top menu, then 'SAVE' 12. Click on 'File' from the top menu, then 'Exit' 13. Power OFF the system, and add the joystick card. 14. Power back ON. For a Windows 95 system 1. Run Device Manager. 2. Double click on Ports to expand it and click on the Joystick port. 3. Choose the Properties button. 4. Remove the 'X' from the current Configuration box. This will disable the joystick port. 5. Choose OK and power OFF the system. 6. Add the joystick card. 7. Power the system back ON.
