= AST RESEARCH, INC. TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 1405 1-24-96 = Manhattan P Partition with OS/2 2.1 on RAID Systems PROBLEM OS/2 version 2.1x FDISK will only allow partitions smaller than 8GB to be created on Manhattan P servers with DPT RAID controllers. CAUSE The HBA I/O address is at its default AUTO setting. This setting only works with PCI aware drivers and operating systems. OS/2 2.1x is not PCI aware, although the DPT SCSI driver is. SOLUTION Configure the SCSI controller for any of the available fixed I/O addresses (170, 230, 330, 1C88 - FC88H). This may be done by pressing while the system displays the message " for DPT Configuration Utility", and then selecting the appropriate I/O address in the menu displayed. SYSTEMS AFFECTED AST PART NUMBER AND DESCRIPTION 501502-XXX Manhattan P5090AE 501503-XXX Manhattan P5100AE 501830-XXX Manhattan P5133 Systems upgraded with dual channel PCI SCSI HBA (501626-001).
