= AST RESEARCH, INC. TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 1433 2-6-96 = Manhattan P5100/P5133 Support of Netware 4.1 SMP This is an informational bulletin. CONDITION AST has released SMP extension drivers for Novell Netware 4.1. These drivers allow the use of a second processor with the Novell Netware 4.1 operating system under limited conditions. The limitations to the support of these drivers are outlined in this Technical Bulletin. BACKGROUND In 1995, Novell announced that their SMP extensions for Netware 4.1 would only be made available through hardware manufacturers, for approximately the first eighteen months of the product's life. This period was to allow for the complete verification of the SMP extensions in controlled situations, before allowing the extensions to be introduced for all hardware platforms. The SMP extensions for Netware 4.1 are only to be used on the Manhattan P/5100 and P5133 servers, with the specific network boards listed in this document. AST does not certify or support any other configurations than those listed in this document. SUPPORT POLICY By providing the SMP extensions for Netware 4.1, AST does not agree to support Novell customers in the use of Netware 4.1 generally. Support for the Netware 4.1 operating system should be sought from the Novell Netware reseller or from Novell Technical Support.
