TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 1441B 4-16-96 = Bravo MS/LC POST Error "16.82" PROBLEM If the Bravo MS system is powered down unexpectedly, without regard to the active operations being performed, the system may report POST error "16.82." CAUSE A PID (Product Identification) loss has occurred. SOLUTION To minimize system / data corruption, AST recommends the system be powered down in a sequential manner, as recommended by the operating systems. In the rare cases where the original PID is lost and the system displays the "ERROR 16.82" at boot up time, a qualified AST service representative must provide the affected customer, the correct PID diskette for the system. This action will restore the system to its original configuration. Contact AST's Technical Support at (800) 727-1278. Please provide your AST system part number to ensure the correct PID is sent to you. CAUTION Providing the customer with an incorrect PID could render the system unusable.
