AST RESEARCH, INC. TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 1473 6-3-96 TITLE: Manhattan P/V SMC PCI Ethernet Card SUMMARY The SMC PCI Ethernet card may hang under heavy I/O in a Manhattan P and V system when sharing interrupts. This issue applies to the following systems: 501500, 501502, 501503, and 501830. ISSUE While running Netware 4.1 on the Manhattan P or V system, the SMC PCI NIC may hang under heavy I/O when the card is installed in the second PCI slot, which shares an interrupt with the on-board NCR controller. A cold boot may be the only method to gain access to the server. BACKGROUND The use of earlier versions of NCR and SMC drivers cause the system to hang. ACTION Ensure that all the drivers are current.
