= AST RESEARCH, INC. TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 1479 3-26-96 = Ascentia 900N/910N, ProStation, and Sanyo Torisan 4X IDE CD-ROM PROBLEM DESCRIPTION Ascentia 900N/910N computers, with BIOS versions prior to 3.0, may be unable to access Sanyo Torisan 4X CD-ROM, with the default ProStation's memory address. SOLUTION When the Ascentia 900N/910N computer docks with a ProStation (docking station) which has a Sanyo Torisan CD-ROM installed, the docking station memory address D0000H needs to be changed to C8000H. To do so, change all switch settings on SW1 to the ON position as follows: 1-ON, 2-ON, 3-ON, and 4-ON. The setting for SW2 remains the same. If the Ascentia 910N computer has BIOS version 3.0 (p/n 905580-031) or higher installed, the above procedure is not required. However, if the Sanyo Torisan CD-ROM is the only IDE device in the docking station, the CD-ROM needs to be set as a Secondary Master, when the CD-ROM driver is installed and the CD-ROM jumper is selected.
