= AST RESEARCH, INC. TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 1484 4-18-96 = Artisoft Noderunner in Bravo LC Pentium PROBLEM When the program NRSETUP (included in Artisoft Noderunner) is run to configure the Noderunner card, the NVRAM contents of the Noderunner card may corrupt, and the card can no longer be configured or used. CAUSE The default Noderunner IRQ 15 (0Fh) conflicts with the default secondary IDE controller IRQ in the LC. The Noderunner card with its utilities was designed before systems with dual IDE controllers were available, and is unable to cope with the inevitable IRQ conflict. SOLUTION 1. In the Bravo LC BIOS Setup, disable the secondary IDE controller (set to 'none'). 2. Save the changes and exit. 3. After rebooting the PC, run NRSETUP and assign a different, free IRQ to the Noderunner card. For example, IRQ5 or IRQ10. 4. Save the configuration, reboot the PC, and reenable the secondary IDE controller. NOTE Artisoft provides a new updated NRSETUP, which can recover disabled Noderunner cards. Please contact Artisoft tech support for a copy of this utility, or look for NRSETUP.ZIP at www.artisoft.com, GO ARTISOFT at CompuServe, or at their US BBS Tel. # +1-520-884-9675.
