TITLE: Ascentia 900N/910N Hangs with PC-COMSAB II


SUMMARY

   The Ascentia 900N/910N hangs with PC-COMSAB II communications 
   software.  This issue affects all Ascentia 900N/910N systems.


ISSUE

   The Ascentia 900N/910N system may hang when executing the 
   PC-COMSAB II software package.  This occurs when the program is 
   setup to use COM ports.


BACKGROUND

   The Ascentia 900N/910N system is designed with the VLSI Super 
   I/O chipset to control serial communications.  The program code
   of the PC-COMSAB II software does not properly address the VLSI
   implementation, and the Ascentia 900N/910N may hang when the user
   tries to setup the software to use COM ports.  


ACTION

   AST recommends the user find a different software package for this
   type of application.  For further information, call the vendor,

NOTES

   The PC-COMBSAB II software is used for computerized control
   of refrigeration compressors.
