TITLE: Advantage! 466 Modem Connection Failure


SUMMARY

   The modem that shipped with the Advantage! 466 systems (AST part
   number 234505-001 Boca) may not connect properly to some on-line
   services with the default setting of "HARDWARE FLOW CONTROL."  

   This issue affects the following system: 503047.


ISSUE

   The modem in the Advantage! 466 may exhibit any of the following
   symptoms:

      The modem may fail to connect.
      The modem may drop the carrier.
      The modem may hang while connecting.
      The modem may hang the application while connected.

ACTION  
  
   To correct the problem in Windows 95, perform the following steps: 
 
   1. Go to Start, Settings, then Control Panel. 
   2. Click on the modem icon. 
   3. Click on Properties. 
   4. Click on the Connection tab. 
   5. Click on the Advanced button. 
   6. Change Hardware Flow Control to SOFTWARE FLOW CONTROL (XON/XOFF).
