TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 1516 6-14-96 TITLE: Ascentia P, Internal Microphone, Win95 SUMMARY After recording or using a microphone on an Ascentia P, the playback volume may be low or hard to understand. This issue applies to the following systems: 501996, 501997, and 503032. ISSUE When recording on the Ascentia P, using either the system's internal microphone or using an external microphone in the Windows 95 environment, the playback volume may be low and hard to understand. BACKGROUND The Automatic Gain Control (AGC) for the microphone may be turned OFF. ACTION To resolve the problem, perform the following steps: 1. From Windows 95, double-click on the speaker icon that is located on the lower right corner of the Task Bar. This action will open the Volume Control window. 2. Select Options from the menu. 3. Select Properties. 4. Select the Recording setting and then select OK 5. On the Recording Control window, select Options form the menu. 6. Make sure the Advanced Controls selection is checked. 7. Select the Advanced button from the Microphone Volume Control window. 8. Under Other Controls, make sure there is a checkmark by AGC for WaveIn. 9. Click on the Close button.
