TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 1537 7-19-96 TITLE: Toshiba 5402B CD-ROM and Bravo MS SUMMARY The user may experience intermittent CD-ROM access failures when the Toshiba CD-ROM drive is configured as a Master in the Secondary IDE Channel. This issue applies to all Bravo MS systems. ISSUE When using the Toshiba 5402B CD-ROM drive in the Bravo MS system, data errors may occur when some programs are started from CD-ROM. The PIO mode used by the Bravo MS system transfers data at Programmed Input Output (PIO) mode 3. In this mode, the CD-ROM may show intermittent READ errors. BACKGROUND The Toshiba 5402B CD-ROM drive did not ship with these AST systems and may not be fully compatible with Bravo MS system. ACTION AST recommends using the CD-ROM drive supplied as an option with this system. The Toshiba 5403B CD-ROM drive has been tested and approved for use with these systems.
