TITLE: Serial Mouse on Ascentia J
 
 
SUMMARY 
 
   The serial mouse on the Ascentia J system may not work in DOS and
   Windows 3.xx.

   This issue applies to all the Ascentia J systems.

ISSUE 
 
   After connecting a serial mouse to the Ascentia J system, the mouse
   may not work in DOS and Windows 3.xx environments.  

   The Ascentia J systems are set by default to use the internal 
   trackstick or external PS/2 mouse.  

BACKGROUND 
 
   The Ascentia J systems are shipped with the trackstick or PS/2 
   mouse as default.  A serial mouse on the Ascentia J may not work 
   unless the mouse drivers are loaded for DOS and Windows 3.xx.


ACTION 

   To use a serial mouse on the Ascentia J system, the user must 
   install the appropriate drivers.  To obtain the drivers, contact 
   the manufacturer of the mouse used, and follow the instructions
   given by the manufacturer.


NOTES 
 
   This issue may affect any system using an integrated pointing 
   device.
