TITLE:  Vibration Torisan CDR_S16 CD-ROM Drive
 
 
SUMMARY 
 
   Systems using the Torisan CDR_S16 6x CD-ROM drive, AST part number
   234441-910, may experience vibration and noise. 
   
   This issue applies to all systems using the CD-ROM drive mentioned
   above.    


ISSUE 
 
   Excessive vibration and resulting noise may occur in all systems 
   using the CD-ROM drive, when using the Torisan CDR_S16 6x CD-ROM 
   drive with a CD-ROM that is not perfectly balanced.    

 
BACKGROUND 
 
   The vibration and noise are caused by the high rotation of some 
   unbalanced CDs.    

 
ACTION 
 
   Use the AST spares kit, part number 590017-001, and install it 
   according to the instructions included in the kit. The additional 
   padding should reduce the vibration to an acceptable level.
