AST RESEARCH, INC. TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 1587 09/24/96 TITLE: Card and Socket Services PCMCIA SUMMARY Mobile systems configured with the Card Wizard default settings may hang after running Memmaker. Card Wizard is the PCMCIA Card and Socket Services software shipped with certain AST mobile systems equipped with PCMCIA sockets. This issue affects all mobile computer systems that shipped with the Card and Socket Services software. ISSUE If the user runs Memmaker (express option), the system may hang. After rebooting, Memmaker will present the user the option of recovering the original configuration. The user should select this option and then restart the process using the path described above. BACKGROUND The device line in CONFIG.SYS that loads the CSALLOC.EXE driver cannot be changed to load the driver into high memory. When loaded high, it may cause the system to hang. ACTION At the DOS prompt, type MEMMAKER and press . 1. To run Memmaker successfully, use the "custom" selection. 2. When prompted, select the option that allows the user to specify which drivers can be loaded high. 3. Select "Yes" for every driver but CSALLOC.EXE.
