TITLE:  NT Hangs w/Adaptec 2940 During Install
 
 
ISSUE 
 
   When Installing Windows NT, version 3.51, on a Manhattan S 
   server, the user may find that after selecting the adapter driver 
   for the Adaptec board, the system hangs and the display goes 
   blank.
   
   This issue affects all Manhattan S6200 and Commerce Pro systems.    

 
BACKGROUND

ACTION 
 
   Perform a low-level format of the drive prior to installing 
   Windows NT, otherwise the drive may contain an invalid Master 
   Boot Record from a previously installed operating system.
        
   Refer to the Adaptec 2940 user's manual for instructions on 
   low-level formatting.
