TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 1642 01/08/97 TITLE: Man P/V, Intel Pro 100B, & NetWare 4.1 ISSUE The Manhattan P & V servers may experience lockup problems under Novell Netware 4.1 when the Intel EtherExpress Pro 100B is installed in slot 2 (location J8) which shares an interrupt with the on-board NCR SCSI controller. This issue affects all Manhattan P and V systems. BACKGROUND N/A ACTION To resolve the problem, perform the following steps: 1. Upgrade the BIOS to version 1.14 (AST part number 905547-312) or later. Ensure that Intel Netware drivers are version 1.48 or later. File 100bdisk.EXE is accessible at the following site: http://support.intel.com 3. Ensure that the latest Novell Netware patches are installed. Check file "patlst.txt" for a complete list of patches for each Novell Operating System. These are accessible at the following site: http://support.novell.com/home/server/nos/updates.htm CAUTION: In order for attached SCSI devices to work properly after updating Manhattan systems to BIOS version 1.14, obtain the new drivers from Symbios Logic for the 4.0 SDMS PCI SCSI chipset. FAILURE TO UPDATE THESE DRIVERS MAY RESULT IN CORRUPTION OR LOSS OF DATA.
