TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 1649 01/14/97 TITLE: Novell Log-in Prompt on Win95 Startup ISSUE Netware Client32 Graphical User Interface (GUI) login prompt is not displayed during startup of Windows 95. Once Windows 95 starts up, it is possible to login to the server using Start, Programs, Novell, Netware Login. This issue may affect all systems preloaded with Windows 95. BACKGROUND This issue occurs when the value for AutoLogon in the Registry is set to 00. If AutoLogon is not present, or if its value is set to 01, then a login prompt will be displayed. ACTION To resolve the issue, perform the following steps: AST HIGHLY RECOMMENDS A BACKUP OF ALL DATA NOT ORIGINALLY ON THE COMPUTER BEFORE PERFORMING ANY SOFTWARE UPDATE. 1. Create a temporary directory on the system's hard drive. 2. Download file AUTOLOG.REG from one of AST's On-Line! services to the created temporary directory. 3. Update the Windows 95 Registry by opening Windows Explorer to the temporary directory and double-clicking on the file. The system will issue a prompt to the screen notifying the user that the registry has been updated.
