TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 1655 01/14/97 TITLE: PCAnywhere 32 Fails to Connect ISSUE When Using PCAnywhere 32 to dial out to a remote system, the modems will negotiate and establish the beginning of the connection. The system will then disconnect without error messages or warnings. This will occur if either system is using one of the modems listed below. The modem part numbers are as follows: ATI 300 14.4 234325-001 ATI 600 28.8 234326-001 Boca/AT&T 28.8 234461-001 This issue could affect the following systems: 501766, 501768, 501769, 501794, 501829, 501839, 501855, 501856, 501962, 501963, 501964, 501965, 501966, 501967, 501968, 501969, 501974, 501975, and 501976. BACKGROUND PCAnywhere 32 is a remote control software package by Symantec Inc. PCAnywhere 32 was not included with any AST system. For support on PCAnywhere 32, contact Symantec at the numbers listed in the documentation included with the software. ACTION For systems that have the Boca/AT&T 28.8 modem, install modem driver version 4.27 or greater. To do this, perform the following steps: 1. Create a temporary directory on the hard drive. 2. Download file BATTDRV.EXE from any of the AST On-Line! services into the temporary directory. 3. Launch Explorer, change to the temporary directory, and double-click on BATTDRV.EXE. 4. Follow the installation instructions contained in the README.TXT file. NOTES Neither the ATI/300 14.4 series nor the ATI/600 28.8 series will support this software.
