TITLE:  Boca ACI Modem with 16 bit Legacy Card
 
 
ISSUE 
 
   After installation of any 16-bit Legacy card (non Plug-and-Play) 
   into an Advantage 93xx system, the card may cause a conflict with 
   the Boca ACI modem. The conflict is not exhibited with the 
   installation of a Plug-and-Play (PnP) card.
   
   This issue may affect the following systems: 503079, 503080, 
   503082, 503083, and 503087.    

 
BACKGROUND 
 
   The system may identify the Boca ACI modem (Part Number 
   234513-003) in Device Manager with the description 'Boca 33.6 
   Kbps V.34 FDVSP'. When the system exhibits the conflict, the 
   operating system (OS) will display a yellow exclamation mark next 
   to the modem. In addition, the OS may display an Error Code 9 
   under the General tab, Device Status.  Also, the Resource tab may 
   be missing.    

 
ACTION 
 
   The user must install the Legacy card into an ISA slot between 
   the PCI slots and the modem. If there is not an open ISA slot 
   between the modem and the PCI slots, the user must relocate the 
   modem to an ISA slot further from the PCI slots.  The user may 
   now install the Legacy card into the newly available ISA slot 
   between the modem and the PCI slots.  
   
   After following the instructions stated above, the system will no 
   longer report a conflict.
