TITLE:  Ascentia 950N, P NT 4.0 Video Drivers
 
 
ISSUE 
 
   Under Windows NT 4.0, an Ascentia 950N or an Ascentia P may 
   exhibit corruption on the LCD display panel. This issue will 
   usually occur on systems with DSTN (Passive Matrix) LCD display 
   panels.
   
   This issue affects the following systems: 
   
   501707, 501708, 501741, 501742, 501743, 501744, 501897, 501898, 
   501905, 501996, 501997, 503039, and 503041.    

 
BACKGROUND 
 
   The Ascentia 950N and early Ascentia P systems use the Cirrus 
   7543 video controller. Later production Ascentia P systems use 
   the Cirrus 7548 video controller.    

 
ACTION 
 
   Download the Windows NT 4.0 video drivers from the Cirrus Logic 
   BBS at 510-440-9080 and update your system's video drivers. 
   
   Before downloading a new video driver, determine the video 
   controller in your system.
    
   The following units have the 7543 controller: 501707, 501708, 
   501897, 501898, 501741, 501742, 501743, 501744, 501905, 501996, 
   501997. For these systems download version 2.40a or higher. 
   
   The following units have the 7548 controller: 503039 and 503041. 
   For these systems download version 1.40 or higher. 
   
   For systems with the 7543 controller, download filename 
   K7543nt4.ZIP.
   
   For systems with the 7548 controller, download filename 
   K7548D7.ZIP.
