TITLE:  Ascentia J, Alps PS/2 Mouse
 
 
ISSUE 
 
   The Ascentia J system does not recognize the Alps 400-series PS/2 
   mouse under Windows 3.1X or Windows 95, when attached to the 
   mouse port. 
   
   This issue affects all Ascentia J systems.    

 
BACKGROUND 
 
   Timing differences between the Ascentia J keyboard controller and 
   the Alps mouse firmware cause this issue. 
   
   Alps will discontinue production of this particular mouse and 
   will not update its firmware    

 
ACTION 
 
   Customers who experience this problem should use a different PS/2 mouse.
