AST RESEARCH, INC. TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 1671 02/25/97 TITLE: Manhattan D Temperature Sensor Alarm ISSUE Temperature sensors on the Manhattan D system are set too low. With current -008 and -009 baseboards, the Upper Warning Threshold value is set at 122 Fahrenheit/50 Celsius. LANDesk temperature warnings are FALSE. This issue affects the following system: 503223. BACKGROUND The temperature threshold value is set too low in the LANDesk software on the system. This issue will be resolved in a later version of the LANDesk software. ACTION To increase the threshold value of sensor 2 in the LANDesk software, follow the instructions below. Bring up the LANDesk software by highlighting or using your mouse to open the software. Then perform the following steps: 1. Double-click with the mouse or highlight and press the [Enter] key on the LANDesk Server Manager Console ICON. A file tree similar to File Manager will appear. 2. Microsoft Windows Network should be highlighted. Press the [Enter] key or double-click with the mouse. A portion of this tree will breakdown showing a Workgroup. 3. Highlight Workgroup. This is the default group configured during installation. Press the [Enter] key. The tree will breakdown again showing a Customer group. This is the default name of the group. 4. Highlight Customer and press the [Enter] key. A logon box will appear requesting the following information: User ID: Root in this box Password: Calvin in this box Press the [Enter] key after entering the information requested above. Another tree will appear. 5. Highlight Server Control and press the [Enter] key. The LANDesk Server Control - Customer Dialog box will appear: Select Admin Options to adjust temperature emphasis from Celsius(C) to Fahrenheit(F) depending upon preference. 6. Click on the Temperature button in the Server Control box. 7. Highlight Baseboard Sensor 2. 8. Set Upper Fatal Threshold to 149 F / 65 C. 9. Set Upper Warning Threshold to 140 F / 60 C. The customer must wait five minutes after completing these instructions before turning the system OFF.
