AST RESEARCH, INC. TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 1679 04/15/97 TITLE: Hard Drive Errors on the Manhattan S/CP ISSUE Some customers have experienced failures with SCSI hard drive mounting trays. These trays may cause a number of different symptoms including: Drives dropping off-line. Drives failing to spin-up at boot. Loss of RAID syncronization DPT Event Log errors such as "Command Aborted" and "SCSI Sense" errors. This issue could potentially affect all Manhattan S6200 and Manhattan Commerce Pro servers, as well as all hard drive option kits for these servers shipped before 4/1/97. BACKGROUND N/A ACTION If you experience any of the symptoms mentioned above, inspect all SCSI hard drive mounting trays for the following Part Numbers and Revisions: 202763-002 Revision A (p/n on PCB label) 202763-002 Revision B " 202763-002 Revision C " 205318-001 Any revision (p/n pressed into metal tray) If any of the above part numbers are present, replace the SCSI mounting tray assembly. Order replacement trays through an AST Authorized Service Center. The new replacement tray assembly part number is 221357-004.
