TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 1691 03/25/97 TITLE: Crystal Chip and CD Audio ISSUE Users may experience difficulties hearing music when playing games from Mixed Mode CDs on AST computers that use the Crystal CS4232 sound chip. Many of today's games use the Mixed Mode format. This issue affects the following systems: 501768, 501962, 501856, 501962, 501964, 501966, and 501968. BACKGROUND Some of these games reset the CS4232 Mixer CD audio volume to zero when initializing the CD-ROM drive. The result is, the user cannot hear any CD music through the speakers. ACTION To resolve the issue, run the file CS32MIX.EXE. This file will increase the CD audio volume. Prior to running the game, enter the following from the command prompt: CS32MIX /C=15,15 The user may also place this command in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file.
