TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 1708 04/29/97 TITLE: Samsung SCR-830 CD-ROM, Bravo Systems ISSUE When adding a Samsung SCR-830 CD-ROM drive to a Bravo system, the CD-ROM will not function properly with Windows 95 on the Secondary IDE Interface. AST does not ship the Samsung SCR-830 CD-ROM drive. This drive is not qualified for use on any of these systems. This issue affects the following systems: 501951, 501952, 501954, 501955, 501956, 501972, and 503043. BACKGROUND N/A ACTION The Samsung SCR-830 CD-ROM drive will function properly if installed as a slave drive on the Primary IDE Interface. To resolve the issue, follow the directions included with the Samsung SCR-830 CD-ROM to set the jumper on the drive to SLAVE. Set the hard drive jumper(s) to MASTER. Both devices must be connected to the Primary IDE Interface. To configure the drives, follow the steps below: 1. Enter System Setup. 2. Set the MASTER and SLAVE drives under the Primary IDE Interface to AUTO. 3. Save and Exit.
