TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 1715 05/13/97 TITLE: Ascentia P70/P80 & CardBus Controllers ISSUE After re-installing Windows 95 OSR2, the CardBus controllers are listed under in the Device Manager. Windows 95 no longer recognizes PCMCIA cards. This issue affects all Ascentia P70 and Ascentia P80 systems. BACKGROUND When re-installing Windows 95 OSR2, the installation program overwrites the PCMCIA.INF file with an older version. This older version does not support the Ascentia P's CardBus controller. ACTION To resolve the issue, perform the following steps: 1. Obtain the updated CBPD6832.EXE file from any of AST's On-Line! services as follows: AST WWW Site: http://www.ast.com AST On-Line! BBS*: See IB0001.TXT CompuServe: GO: ASTFORUM Prodigy: JUMP: ASTSUPPORT * Refer to IB0001.TXT for a list of AST's international BBS numbers. To decompress this file, create a temporary directory on your hard drive, copy the downloaded file to that directory, and run the file. 2. Extract the file named above to a temporary directory. 3. Double-click on INSTALL and wait until the operation completes. 4. Under Device Manager, remove both CardBus controllers under and then restart the computer.
