TITLE:  Bravo LC, 3COM 3C509 & SB16 PnP CT2940
 
 
ISSUE 
 
   The Bravo LC may be unable to log in to the server if the user 
   has both a 3COM 3C509B-TPC ISA Ethernet adapter and a Creative 
   Labs SB 16 PnP CT2940 sound card installed.
   
   This issue effects the following systems: 501958, 501959, 501961, 
   and 503031.    

 
BACKGROUND 
 
   N/A    

 
ACTION 
 
   To resolve this issue, perform the following steps:
   
   1. Turn the system OFF.
   
   2. Remove the SB16 Plug-and-Play (PnP) card. Refer to the 
      card's User's Manual for instructions.
   
   3. Turn the system ON.
   
   4. Bypass the Startup files during the boot process. 
      To do so, follow one of the procedures below, 
      selecting the appropriate operating system.
   
       A. Under Windows 95, do the following:
   
            1. Press the [F8] key when the following message
               appears:  
          
               "Starting Windows 95"
   
            2. From the Startup Menu, select the following: 
               "Safe mode command prompt only"
   
       B. Under DOS or WFW 3.1x, press the [F5] key when the 
          following message appears:
   
               "Starting MS-DOS" appears.
            
   5. Insert the 3COM drivers diskette into drive A:
   
   6. Enter the following command from the A: prompt:
   
               3C5X9CFG configure /syncready:enabled
   
   7. Once the steps above are complete, remove the 
      diskette from drive A: and reboot the system.
   
   8. Install the drivers for the 3COM 3C509B-TCP adapter.
   
   9. Follow normal shutdown procedure and power down the 
      system.
   
   10. Reinstall the SB16 PnP card.
   
   11. Turn the system ON.
   
   This procedure will synchronize the 3COM adapter with the ISA bus 
   on the system board.
