TITLE:  Loss of Data with Fast Modem and Matrox
 
 
ISSUE 
 
   When using a high speed external modem on a system with the 
   Matrox Millennium video card installed, dropped characters can 
   occur on the display. This issue is not dependent on specific 
   communication software.
   
   This issue may affect the following Bravo MS-T systems: 503057 
   and 503058. This issue may also affect the following Matrox 
   option kit: 503410-001.    

 
BACKGROUND

ACTION 
 
   To resolve the issue, perform the following steps:
   
   For the Windows 95 Operating System: 
   
   1. Right-click the Windows 95 desktop background.
   
   2. Click the following Properties menu items:
   
      MGA Settings tab
      Advanced button
      Performance tab
   
   3. Clear the 'Use automatic PCI bus retry' check box.
   
   4. Click the [OK], [OK], and [Yes] buttons to accept the 
      changes and restart your computer.
   
   For the Windows 3.1 Operating System: 
   
   1. Edit the SYSTEM.INI file in your Windows directory. 
   
   2. Using an editor such as Notepad, add the following 
      line 
   
          PciChipSet=1
   
      to the [mga.drv] section.
