TITLE:  Ascentia P, Resources, Infrared Port
 
 
ISSUE 
 
   When configuring an Ascentia P70 (or P80) to use an IBM Token 
   Ring, a FAX/modem, or other add-in card, it may not be possible 
   to use the built-in infrared port on the laptop.
   
   This issue affects Ascentia P70/80 systems with the following 
   part numbers: 503252 and 503302.    

 
BACKGROUND 
 
   Due to the allocation of resources on Ascentia P70 and P80 
   systems, the IBM Token Ring card, for example, must be assigned 
   IRQ 11 and the FAX/modem must share IRQ 3 with the infrared port. 
   Therefore, simultaneous use of the FAX/modem and the infrared 
   port is not possible.    

 
ACTION 
 
   None. The system is operating as designed.
