TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 1777 11/11/97 TITLE: Bravo MS and ZIP IDE Drive ISSUE The Bravo MS 62xx system detects the internal IDE ZIP drive (Z100iDE.ZIP) as an IDE Hard Drive Device and not as a Removable Media Device. When configuring the IDE ZIP drive as a bootable device, the user must select the Hard Drive option under Boot Device Priority, under the Boot option, on the SETUP Menu. In addition, the ZIP drive option must be selected under the Hard Drive devices in the Boot Menu. This issue applies to the following systems: 503368, 503370, and 503602. BACKGROUND The Bravo MS systems support the internal IDE ZIP drive as a data device as well as a bootable device. The IDE ZIP drive is automaticaly detected as a Hard Disk Device in the MAIN SETUP Menu. It must be installed ahead of the CD-ROM drive. When configuring the IDE ZIP drive as a bootable device, the user must select the Hard Drive option under Boot Device Priority under the Boot option on the SETUP Menu. In addition, the ZIP drive option must be selected under the Hard Drive devices in the Boot Menu. ACTION To configure the IDE ZIP drive as a bootable device, perform the following steps: 1. Press the [F2] key at boot to enter System Setup. 2. Select the [Boot] button at the top of the screen. Arrow-down to Hard Drive and press the [Enter] key. 4. Arrow-down to the ZIP drive and move it to item number one. 5. Press the [F10] key to save and exit. 6. Select the [Yes] option to save the configuration and to exit. NOTES NOTE 1: Do not use the Removable Devices option under Boot Device Priority in the Boot Menu, to boot from the ZIP drive. The IDE ZIP drive is only detected as a Hard Drive Device. NOTE 2: The Bravo MS systems support the internal IDE ZIP drive as a data device as well as a bootable device. The IDE ZIP drive is automatically detected as a Hard Disk Device in the main setup menu. The user must install the ZIP drive ahead of the CD-ROM drive.
