Last Revised AST RESEARCH, INC. TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 1798 02/03/98 TITLE: WinNT 4.0 and Bootable CD on Premium HS ISSUE When installing Windows NT, version 4.0, from a bootable Windows NT CD on a Premium HS system, Windows NT is unable to detect any hard drives connected to the I2O MegaRAID. This issue affects only the bootable CD install for the Premium HS systems. BACKGROUND N/A ACTION To resolve the issue, perform the steps below: 1. Make the sure the Windows NT installation CD-ROM is inserted in the CD-ROM drive. 2. When the Windows NT CD starts to boot, the following message will appear on the screen: "Setup is inspecting your computers hardware configuration". Press [F6] immediately." 3. Within a few seconds, another message will come up on the screen prompting you to specify additional adapters in the system. Select [S] and press [ENTER] on the "OTHER" option in the selection screen. 4. Insert the MegaRAID Windows NT driver disk and press the [ENTER] key. 5. "MegaRAID NT SCSI Driver" will be displayed highlighted in the middle of the screen. Press to load the driver. Press again to continue the operation as usual. By loading Windows NT this way, we have told Windows NT that the MegaRAID controller is the primary controller. Windows NT will now continue to install as usual.
