TITLE  DOS PCMCIA For MiniDock (Ascentia M)

ISSUE

   While AST does not support the use of DOS on the Ascentia M, some 
   customers have found that they cannot access the PCMCIA slots on 
   the MiniDock.


BACKGROUND

   N/A


ACTION

   To resolve the issue, perform the steps below:
   
   1. In BIOS Setup, set the PnP OS setting to NO.
   
   2. Install the Phoenix Card manager drivers located in the         
   \Drivers\Win31\PCMCIA directory on the Ascentia M System         
   Restore and Device Driver CD-ROM and reboot the system. 
   
   3. Download the file 13795031.exe from one of the AST on-line     
   forums.  Place the file in a temporary directory and run the file.
   
   4. Copy the file, pcminit.sys file to C:\PCM4 and add the 
   following line to the top of the config.sys file:
         
         DEVICE=C:\PCM4\PCMINIT.SYS  
   
   5. Ensure that PCMSSCL9.EXE is installed after 
   PCMSS.EXE in CONFIG.SYS.
   (i.e., DEVICEHIGH=C:\PCM4\PROGRAM\PCMSSCL9.EXE)
   
   6. Before editing the PCM.INI file, AST recommends making a backup 
   copy of the file by running:
   
   copy c:\pcm4\program\pcm.ini c:\pcm4\program\pcm.old
   
   7. Edit the C:\PCM4\PROGRAM\PCM.INI file. Four lines may need to 
   be modified and one line will need to be added. The following is 
   an example pcm.ini file. All of the modifications are shown below 
   and are preceded by the original line which has been commented out 
   with the following phrase:
