Run Debug and at the "-" prompt enter "G= C 800:5", accept the standard defaults and the drive will format. At the A> prompt load and run the debug utility A>DEBUG 2. At the debug prompt, type the following lines; -rax ax 0000 (cpu reply) :xxyy xx=relative drive number, yy=interleave factor (03=standard) -g=c800:5 3. when the program asked for confirmation reply with Y. This program must be run twice if formatting 2 drives. Wait for format succesful message. 4. With newer ROMs such as the 43-010 and no table specified, additional input is required as follows; WX2 format revision T.n (etc) key in drive no. and interleave as follows: d ii Enter relative drive no. (0-1) followed by space Enter interleave factor (1-16) 3 is standard The next message to appear will ask for drive characteristics as follows: ccc rrr ppp ee oo wher ccc = total number of cylingers (1-4 digits) h = number of heads (1-2 digits) rrr = starting reduced write cylinder (1-4 digits) ppp = write precomp cylinder (1-4) ee = jmax correctable error burst length (1-2 digits) oo = CCB option byte (1 hex digit) Defaults for rrr = max cyl +1, write precomp = max cyl +1 Maximum correctable error burst length = 11 bits CCB option byte = 05 Enter this information if it is available for the drive being installed.
