TECHNICAL SUPPORT BULLETIN Number: TSB-0029-C Date : 88-07-21 Ref. : DW Page : 1 of 1 LOW LEVEL FORMAT ON HARD DISK DRIVES T1200, T3100, T3100/20, T3200 AND T5100 To perform a low level format on the T1200, T3100, T3100/20, T3200 follow these commands: (NOTE: This is a lower level format than a DOS format, and will erase only DOS partitions) From the DOS directory, type: DEBUG A MOV AX,0703 MOV CX,0001 MOV DX,0080 INT 13 INT 3 enter G=100 The hard disk light will come on and it will go through the low level format. When finished, it will print out three lines of test figures. The figures should include AX = 0000. If AX = 0000 then follow these instructions: Reboot (ALT-CTRL-DEL) FDISK FORMAT C:\S If AX not = 0000, then there is a problem with the hard drive, and the computer should be taken to a procare centre for servicing. One can perform a low level format for a T1200 using the diagnostic diskette and run the TESTCE12 program, then choose the LOW LEVEL FORMAT option. One can perform a low level format for a T3100, T3100/20, T3200 and T5100 using the diagnostic diskette and run the TESTCE3 program, then choose the LOW LEVEL FORMAT option.
