Macintosh Performa 5260

Performa 5000 was a line of high-performance computers based on Motorola PowerPC chips. They were built with all-in-one technology, with built-in CRT monitor, microphone and speakers. 5260 was another step forward as it used better CPU - Motorola PowerPC 603e, clocked at 100 or 120MHz. It has built-in CD-ROM drive too. Unfortunately its mainboard was designed terribly and its architecture slowed down a whole system making it only a bit faster than first PowerPC 601 units clocked at 66Mhz. More, its system bus was twice smaller than CPU bus, making it really slow. You can read about it in an archived article as one of the worst Macs in the world.

All I know about my unit is that it comes from Italy. It was used in Poland, and then put to basement. Few years ago it survived a flood, unfortunately loosing original cardboard package. I have its documentation, restore CDs, and Italian keyboard. It is in very good condition, stored in plastic bag. As it came to me it has Mac OS 8, but it was painfully slow, so I installed 7.5.5 there. On restore CD there's 7.5.6 in Italian. Its CD-ROM is picky and reads only some CDs.
